Bail Hearing.

BAIL AND YOUR RIGHT TO RELEASE

The Approach of 10(B) Criminal Law Center

Bail is often the foundation of a strong defence. Mr. Zarabi ensures that your case is advanced promptly and with attention to detail by:

  • Preparing release plans tailored to your circumstances.
  • Assisting sureties with understanding their role and responsibilities.
  • Responding to each ground of detention raised by the Crown.
  • Seeking the least restrictive conditions appropriate in your case.
  • Bringing bail reviews (s. 520) or detention reviews (s. 525) where necessary.

At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, bail hearings are treated as the foundation of every defence. Mr. Zarabi takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances and prepares a plan that addresses the court’s concerns while safeguarding the presumption of innocence. From guiding sureties through their responsibilities to presenting tailored release plans, every step is handled with care, professionalism, and determination.

Strong bail defence, bail reviews, bail hearings, in St. Catharines

At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, securing bail often means addressing more than just legal concerns. Many clients face challenges related to housing, mental health, or addiction. To create strong and sustainable release plans, Mr. Zarabi collaborates with trusted community partners and support programs, including:

  • Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) –  We work with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to ensure that clients receive meaningful mental health support as part of their bail plans. The CMHA provides unwavering support, connects individuals with services and programs, advocates for better mental health policies, shares inclusive and evidence-based information, and safeguards the right to safety, stability, and access to needed resources. By partnering with CMHA, we help build release plans that are both practical and compassionate.

  • John Howard Society (JHS) –  We collaborate with the John Howard Society (JHS) to strengthen bail plans with reintegration and supervision supports. JHS provides counselling, housing assistance, and community-based programs that promote accountability and stability. Their involvement helps the court see that clients have meaningful guidance and structure while on release.

  • Safe Beds –  We also work with Safe Beds to provide short-term, supervised housing for clients who need a stable and supportive environment as part of their bail plan. Safe Beds placements reduce the risk of re-offending, address immediate safety concerns, and give clients access to health and social services in the community.

  • Indigenous case workers and community members – At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, we work with Indigenous case workers, Elders, and community members to develop bail plans that are culturally appropriate and grounded in community support. These partnerships provide supervision, guidance, and access to Indigenous-led programs that address housing, healing, addictions, and past traumas. By including Indigenous voices and resources, we demonstrate to the court that release plans are not only realistic and responsible, but also respectful of cultural identity and community connection.

  • ...and others...

These partnerships allow us to present bail plans that are not only practical and enforceable, but also responsive to the underlying issues that may have led to involvement with the justice system. By working closely with community organizations, we demonstrate to the court that release is responsible, structured, and in the public interest.

Decisive and Determined

Why Bail Matters

A well-prepared release plan is not only about securing bail but also about ensuring that the conditions imposed are realistic and manageable. At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, Mr. Zarabi focuses on developing plans that reduce the risk of unintended breaches while addressing all potential grounds for detention — whether attendance in court, public safety, or confidence in the administration of justice. This careful approach helps demonstrate to the court that release is both responsible and sustainable.

Indigenous Supports

Working With Indigenous Communities

For many clients, addressing the root causes of justice involvement requires more than supervision — it requires healing. At 10(B) Criminal Law Center, Mr. Zarabi works with Indigenous counselling programs  that focus on addressing issues such as drinking, addictions, and past traumas. These programs provide culturally informed support and healing, helping clients confront the challenges that may have contributed to their involvement with the justice system. By incorporating Indigenous-led counselling and wellness services into release plans, we present the court with solutions that are realistic, respectful, and supportive of long-term stability.

By connecting clients with Indigenous-led healing circles, trauma counselling, and addiction recovery services, we are able to strengthen bail plans and demonstrate to the court that release is supported by meaningful and practical resources. These partnerships not only help satisfy the court’s concerns, but also give clients the opportunity to engage in personal growth, accountability, and restoration.

This may include:

  • Involving Indigenous case workers to provide supervision, guidance, and culturally appropriate support.

  • Working with Elders and community members to strengthen release plans.

  • Incorporating access to Indigenous-led housing, healing, and wellness programs.

A Culturally Informed Bail Plan

By engaging Indigenous voices and resources, we aim to build release plans that are realistic, respectful, and capable of addressing the court’s concerns under all grounds of detention, while honouring cultural identity and community connection.
