The Indigenous Peoples Court is a specialized courtroom that recognizes the unique experiences, traditions, and intergenerational impacts faced by Indigenous individuals within the justice system. Rooted in principles of restorative justice, cultural respect, and healing over punishment, this court offers an alternative approach — one that seeks to address the underlying causes of criminal behaviour rather than simply impose consequences.
At 10(b) Criminal Law Centre, we understand that reconciliation begins with listening. We work closely with our Indigenous clients to advocate for their participation in Indigenous court settings, where Elders, Indigenous knowledge keepers, and community-based supports play a central role in guiding outcomes.
